Bankrupt or Not, TVRs Still Produce an Authoritative Exhaust Note

The reborn TVR car company has yet to come roaring back with new models, but that’s no reason to overlook its previous offerings. This yellow, hand-built two-seater dates from 1977 and its current owner claims that it was the second-to-last 2500M exported from the English town of Blackpool to the United States. Its fiberglass body is wrapped around a tubular frame and has a Jaguar transaxle for great weight distribution. According to this TVR’s seller, “the paint is original and still shows very well but is not perfect.”

However, “the interior is excellent, with new professionally done carpet.” Clutch pedal action has been improved with a roller bearing conversion. A new fuel pump and brake master cylinder join a rebuilt booster.

The Triumph TR6 motor has been rebuilt, as well, and only has 6,000 miles on it. Its Zenith Stromberg carburetors were given a new lease on life less than two years ago. Other components have been upgraded. For instance, the 2.5-liter I6 now has a high-capacity aluminum radiator, a SPAL electric fan and a Pertronix electronic ignition system. It produces “an authoritative exhaust note” through a stainless steel set-up. Perhaps it sounds like a roar…
