The Porsche Museum in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, Germany, is celebrating the return to Le Mans by recently opening a special exhibition that celebrates Porsche’s Le Mans history beginning in 1951 and leading up to the present day. In the exhibit, which is set up to look like the race track, over 20 race cars tell the story of the legendary race, including (for the first time to the public) the new Porsche 919 Hybrid.

Throughout the entire 24-hour duration of the race on the weekend of June 14 and 15, the museum will be free and open to the public. Visitors will be able to watch the long-distance race on multiple screens in and around the museum.

The exhibit opened March 26 and runs through July 13, 2014.

The Porsche 961 is for me the ultimate 911. I really should make the effort to go to Stuttgart and see it in the flesh…

It is not as bombastic as the Mercedes museum (which is also in Stuttgart, combine the two!), but I would definitely recommend it.

It’s a great place to release your inner Porsche-nerd. Although it can get rather crowded, rather quickly, if you arrive early you can have the museum to yourself. What’s more, the employees are very friendly and more than happy to explain or open a bonnet or two.

Totally agree with you!
The Porsche museum is nice but quite small and can become a nightmare if too crowded. The Mercedes is a lot bigger and totally amazing.
