The Most Stylish Way to Attend the Goodwood Revival

There are a few ways to attend the Goodwood Revival, whether in full period regalia or just showing up without honoring the classic nature of the event or in varying degrees somewhere in between. But the most stylish way to attend is on the heels of a multi-day run in your own classic ride. That run is organized by champagne company Veuve Cliquot and begins the Wednesday before the Revival in Paris and makes its way to Reims’s Hotel du Marc (a private estate that belongs to the champagne manufacturer) located in the capital of the Champagne region.

Organized by Paris-based Profirst, this year’s drive to Goodwood included a stop into the famous Formula One Reims-Gueux circuit and then to Aisne and Picardie via beautiful backroads. Along the way, the French tradition combining fast motoring in style with fine cooking was truly respected by a lunch featuring Chou Farci au Foie Gras (cabbage rolls with goose liver), the kind of delicacies that French people would never miss!

This year, seven cars made the run including a Jaguar, Triumph, Porsche 356, and even a modern Ferrari. Early the following morning, the run resumed, travelling to Dieppe to jump on the ferry through idyllic, small French towns. The international crew that mixed locals with Americans, Japanese, Greek, and English drivers and co-drivers then boarded the ferry to land in Newhaven before a night-stretch driving-session to Goodwood.

Champagne greeted everyone before spending a well-deserved night of rest… And of course, the three following days saw the Paris-to-Goodwood crews mixing with the happy Revival crowds. Everyone enjoyed the Goodwood Revival, but a rally through northern France with like-minded people is definitely a way to increase the style quotient.
